Back in 2024, the June Cup - "Women at the Helm" twilight regatta was a vision from long time RBYC member and former Commodore, June Cuthbertson, to promote women sailing opportunities! As such, a woman skipper must alone hold the helm on most legs of the course, during the start and finish, all tacks, gybes, mark roundings, and represent the boat in any protest. Change in 2024 – the same woman does not need to skipper the boat for all 4 races for the boat to qualify for the perpetual trophy; however, the boat must delegate a single team lead female skipper at registration to represent the team and to have her name on the perpetual trophy. We feel that this change is more within the spirit of the event which is designed to get more women on the water!
Each week will feature a "spirit opportunity" which will be tallied and awarded at the perpetual trophy ceremony in late autumn. Week 1 will be "show your pink"! Week 2 will be "women heros" either real or from pop culture. Week 3 will be "red, white & blue". Week 4 will be "aaaarg....pirates!".
All skippers and crew are welcome back at the PRYC, 555 N Harbor Dr., Redondo Beach, following each twilight regatta for refreshments and weekly race trophy ceremony!
Hope to see you all on the water!

June Cup - Women at the Helm registration and course updates
Hi Skippers,
Thank you for registering for the upcoming June Cup - Women at the Helm series! Based on participant feedback, we will be using the KHYC Twilights Course Chart so we have updated the NOR, SI and Course Chart in the documents section of both our website and the RMS site. Also, for any boat owners that have registered and forgot to include the name of your Woman team lead, please either go in and add another person or if you want to send me the name and email, I can add it for you. Also, we have fixed the issue with paying so if you have not yet paid (or provided payment outside the system), don't forget to go in and compelte.
Our first week's spirit theme will be "pink". Decorate your crew, your boat, or whatever you like as long as it's pink!
Thank you,
PRYC Race Committee
